They say you should write about what you know. I’m a short guy (5’ 4”), among other things, and there’s a lack of quality internet content dedicated to short men, so I’m here to fill that gap.
Plus, I learned relatively early on to love being short.
The mission of this blog is to focus on the triumphs and travails of short men (with more of an emphasis on the triumphs – short men rule, after all). It is meant to empower us and help us embrace something about ourselves that we can’t change – embrace who we are and play the cards we’re dealt. On a broader level then, I hope that this blog will help anyone embrace the things about themselves that they cannot change and try to be the best they can be.
My intention is that we will cover all sorts of topics – most will focus on great things about being short, how to use shortness to your advantage, and how to be the best short guys you can be. Others will debunk “conventional” wisdom and question the results of scientific studies where necessary (in my view scientific studies and polls are generally not intentionally pernicious, but often subject to dubious interpretation, particularly in this age of 140 word twitters).
I hope that we'll have some guest posts and topics suggested by readers. Through my years of shortness, I've had many conversations and experiences, and I'm sure all of you reading this have had your own experiences. Hopefully I share something that resonates with you, but if you think I'm off-base or you'd like to share your own experiences, have at it.
Also worth noting is that this blog isn’t meant to knock any other group of people (except obnoxious people on occasion, but they’ve sort of brought this on themselves). On the other hand, I may occasionally mention things that short guys can do to better position themselves (e.g. get in good physical shape) that may be perceived as a dig against a particular group of people (e.g. overweight people). Again, my goal is to help short guys be the best they can be and inject a little humor where I can.
So, welcome.
